Torc-Tech Heavy-Duty Impact Sockets — 3/4" Square Drive

The HLM13DSI is a 13mm (M8) heavy-duty impact socket designed for use with 3/4″ square drive hydraulic, electric, battery and pneumatic torque tools. With an overall length (OAL) of 75mm, it belongs to the Torc-Tech DSI series — standard-length sockets calibrated for the most common hydraulic and pneumatic torque wrenches.

Why socket length matters in controlled bolting: When a socket is too short or too long for the torque tool’s drive engagement point, contact between socket and drive becomes misaligned. This misalignment causes jamming, prevents the tool from reaching the target torque value and creates a safety hazard for the operator. The DSI series (75mm overall length) provides full drive engagement without clearance issues on standard square-drive torque tools.

Material and heat treatment: HLM13DSI is CNC-machined from high-grade alloy steel and heat-treated to a hardness of 40–45 HRC — the internationally accepted standard for heavy-duty impact sockets. Hard enough to resist deformation under high-torque impact loading, yet tough enough to resist cracking under shock. After heat treatment, an anti-corrosion surface coating is applied, making the socket suitable for outdoor and chemically aggressive industrial environments.

6-point geometry: The hexagonal 6-point internal profile distributes torque load across flat faces rather than corners, minimising surface stress concentration and reducing the risk of bolt head rounding under high-torque operation.

Typical applications: Structural steel connections, flange bolting on piping systems, oil & gas plant maintenance, wind turbine component assembly, shipbuilding, pressure vessel covers and automotive manufacturing lines using M8 fasteners in high-volume bolting sequences.

Custom sizing: Torc-Tech manufactures the HLM series from 13mm through 67mm, covering M8 to M42 fasteners. Deep socket versions (95mm overall length, DDI series) are available for recessed bolt applications. Non-standard lengths and drive sizes are available on request.

Torc-Tech heavy-duty impact sockets are manufactured in Türkiye from heat-treated alloy steel using CNC technology. Post heat-treatment hardness ranges between 40–45 HRC, the internationally accepted standard for this product category. Available square drive sizes: 3/4″, 1″, 1½″, 2½″ and 3½″. Custom sizes and non-standard overall lengths are produced on request.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between DSI and DDI sockets?
DSI sockets have an overall length of 75mm (standard). DDI sockets are 95mm (deep), suited for recessed bolt applications where the fastener sits below the flange surface. Choose based on the support point distance of your torque tool.

Which torque tools are compatible with 3/4″ drive HLM sockets?

Why is 40–45 HRC the correct hardness for impact sockets?
Below ~38 HRC the steel deforms under repeated impact loading. Above ~47 HRC it becomes brittle and may fracture under shock loads. The 40–45 HRC window balances toughness with wear resistance and is the industry-standard range for heavy-duty impact sockets.
